Introduction
Overview
Advancing your career and increasing your salary is something most of us strive for. With this purpose in mind, many of us throw ourselves into work. While this is beneficial, it leaves little time to gain advantageous qualifications that will propel our careers to the next level.
If you are hoping to climb the next rung in your career ladder or even trying to find your first step, getting qualified is a great boost to get you on your way. However, if you are struggling to find the time to fit in study, consider talking to our team at the College of Contract Management about the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business.
The BTEC HND is a globally recognised qualification awarded by Pearson Education, the largest and most well-known awarding body in the UK. Moreover, the course is delivered online in order to save you time and money. Likewise, we offer seven different disciplines under the HND in Business. However, this course specialises in Operations Management.
An Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing how a company makes its product or delivers its service. They will plan and maintain strategies to make sure the different departments are working safely, efficiently and profitably to deliver the goods. Furthermore, it is a responsible role with a correspondingly high salary as you gain experience.
Your Pathway
The HND in Business will open doors for you academically and professionally. In this case, the HND is recognised by many universities as the equivalent of the first two years of a degree and can give you the opportunity to enter the third year thereupon. This means that you can top-up your HND in Business to a full degree within one year. Alternatively, you may use your HND to go straight into industry or boost your already well-established career.
So far we have stressed the role of Operations Manager as the main profession of HND in Business Operations Management holders, which does seem the obvious choice. Notwithstanding, there are plenty of other ways an HND in Business and Operations Management can take you. Roles you may wish to work towards include:
- Operations Research Analyst
- Industrial Production Manager
- Inventory Control Manager
- Finance Analyst
- Director of Purchasing
Key Benefits
1. A Flexible Course that Works Around You
Studying online is the perfect solution if any of the following apply to you:
If you are currently working:
We understand that a large majority of people taking vocational qualifications such as this are already working. Getting extra qualifications is about raising your prospects and your salary, not taking time off work to study. With this in mind, our online courses are designed to fit around your diary. Moreover, we schedule all our live online courses at weekends but you can watch recordings of them at your convenience, therefore weekend shift work is no barrier.
Furthermore, studying online while you work allows you to gain experience that will look fantastic on your CV. In particular, employers and universities with be impressed by your tenacity and work-ethic. Therefore, studying for your HND in Business online is a practical investment in your future.
If you don’t want to travel:
The traditional way to gain extra qualifications while you work is to travel to regimentally timetabled evening classes. In this case, not only are you paying extra cost in travel but you are giving more of your time too. After a long day at work, more travel can leave you exhausted and unable to perform at your best on the job which seems counterproductive when you are trying to boost your career.
Our live online courses allow you to study from the comfort of your own home. In particular, it is an ideal solution if you have other responsibilities or circumstances that mean you’d rather not travel, such as children or health issues.
If you reside overseas:
Studying online is an accessible way for overseas students to gain a real UK qualification. Indeed, the influx of international students studying in Britain is ever increasing as the value of UK qualifications continues to swell across the world. However, many budding students face obstacles in coming to the UK, such as the financial requirements to gain a Visa.
Tier 4 Student Visas limit the number of hours a student can work while they are in the country and require proof that they will be able to support themselves financially for the duration of the entire course. Not working is simply not an option for most.
Conversely, the online HND in Business Operations Management offers overseas students a real UK qualification without leaving their home country.
2. Technology Brings the Classroom to You
Online courses are often seen as far removed from a traditional classroom environment. Even those offered by top universities generally consist of long slabs of information and a suggested activity, to read and do alone.
We believe education should be stimulating and involve exploring other people’s thoughts and ideas on a topic as well as your own. Consequently, we use technology to create a classroom environment in your home. The HND Business lectures are live online lectures that allow you to interact with your teacher and fellow students. You can do this either by speaking aloud or typing your question or idea into the group chat onscreen. Equally, you will build friendships and can even add friends on your virtual study platform.
3. Real University Lecturers Deliver a High Standard of Teaching
In our quest to bring you an education as close a quality to that of a university, we only hire real university lecturers. Moreover, all our lecturers are qualified and experienced, both in industry and in teaching. They will teach you using more interactive versions of the same presentations that they teach their university students with. Likewise, you will use the same practices, theories and educational tools as those studying Operations Management at university.
4. An Economically Favourable Option
Similarly, while our teaching quality is nearly as high as that of a university, our prices certainly are not. By running our courses online, we don’t need to fork out for the upkeep of a large campus (or campuses) so likewise neither do you. Our low course cost joined with your ability to work while you study and the fantastic qualification you’ll receive makes studying online for your HND in Business an economic triumph.
